Large Polyp Stony Corals are generally larger calcareous corals with large fleshy polyps. They are the builders of calcium carbonate reef structures found in the wild. The LPS corals growth rate can vary greatly. Some LPS, such as the Favites, can grow very quickly while some massive LPS, like the scolymia, can take years to grow an inch. LPS corals tend to be easy to care for and come in a vast variety of colors.
